Peacefully, after a brief illness, on Monday, November 13, 2000 at the St. Pierre Personal Care Home, Gerry passed away at the age of 82 years. Gerry was born in St. Pierre in 1918. At a young age, he moved to Transcona with his family. Gerry retired from the CNR after 45 years of service. He then moved back to his roots in St. Malo. As a young man, Gerry was very active in sports, but his first love was baseball. He was a back catcher on many championship teams. Recently, one of his biggest honours was being inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame Gerry was predeceased by his parents, brothers and best friend Elsie. Gerry will be missed by Anettea and his friends in St. Malo, Pat and Barry and family of Stonewall and friends in Winnipeg. Thanks to all the staff and doctors at St. Pierre Hospital and Personal Care Home, and thank you to all his home care workers over the past years. Memorial service to be held on Friday, November 17, at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., at 1:30 p.m. with Chaplain Paul Martin officiating. Burial at the Transcona ÂȘCemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
