GEORGE KEAM Peacefully, on Friday, November 17, 2000, surrounded by his family, George Keam was met by the Lord and guided into the Kingdom of Heaven. George was born in Lorette, Man., on July 12, 1919. He was married to his loving wife Lena for 59 years. They met in 1940 and were married on February 18, 1941. Together they raised a family of seven children on the very homestead where George was born. His children shall always remember him as a strong role model and protector, whose devotion to his family was second only to his love for them. George took great pride in maintaining his century-old farm according to family tradition. From the landmark red barn to the horse-drawn sleigh and buggy, the farm will always be symbolic of his hard work and wisdom. He had a special gift for raising livestock and training horses. His advice and expertise were sought by many within the community. George was also a skilled tradesman who worked for many years for Borger Brothers Industries, McCurdys Trucking and the Rural Municipality of Tache. George had many hobbies. He enjoyed playing hockey as a boy and, as he got older, he played the fiddle and called at square dances, and he was always up for a good Canasta tournament. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and acquaintances. He is survived by his loving wife Lena. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Vic (Gerry) of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ont., Eileen (Ralph) of Logan Lake, B.C.., Reg (Janice) of Niverville, MB, Patricia (Ray), Robert (Tammy) and Dorothy (Kevin) all of Winnipeg. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sandra (Kyle), Barbara (Billy), Joyce-Ann (Luc), David, Stacy (Sheldon), Riley, Tammy, Jason (Cheryl), Michael (Shauna), Melissa, James and Kayla as well as eight great-grandchildren, Christy, Courtney, Ethan, Blake, Samuel, Jayline, Chelsea and Ryin. George was predeceased by his parents and siblings as well as his son Wayne in 1987. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg for their kindness, attentiveness and support, with special acknowledgements to Dr. Tataryn and Dr. Macek, nurses, Joanne, Michelle, Mary, Jan and Shirley. Cremation has taken place and a private family service has been arranged. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
