GIOVANNI ZEDDA August 18, 1926 - November 19, 2000 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, husband, brother and uncle, Giovanni Zedda, on Sunday, November 19, 2000. Left to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Maria of 38 years; his loving son Claudio and caring daughter-in-law Armida; his brother Luigi (Lina) and nephews, Tony and Sergio of Winnipeg; brother Vincenzo and sister Giovanna of Italy; his sister-in-law Sandra Calvani and brother-in-law Francesco and Anna Masci of Italy along with numerous nieces and nephews. Giovanni was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Luigina along with his brother Sebastiano and sister Maria. Giovanni was born in Senis, Sardegnia, Italy on August 18, 1926. He immigrated to Canada in 1954 and was a long time employee of the University of Manitoba, until his retirement in 1987. Over the years Giovanni enjoyed working in his garden and like any true Italian loved making wine. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 22, at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue with Rev. Fr. Garry Killen. In accordance with Giovannis wishes cremation will follow. A private family urn placement will be held in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street, at a later date. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C OS6, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 2H8.
