HARVEY SCHWARTZ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, and zaida, Harvey Schwartz on November 19, 2000 at the Grace Hospital at the age of 71 years. Harvey leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Toby; children, Gary, Jeffrey, Steven and Sharon; his grandchildren, Beth, Emma, Ellie, Madeline and Abigail, as well as many family and friends. Harvey was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Rae Schwartz; and his brother Martin Schwartzwald. Harvey was a loving husband, father and zaida. A loyal friend, he gave much of himself and asked for little in return. During his life he touched the hearts and minds of many people with his warm personality, quiet wisdom and sharp sense of humour. He took special delight in his grandchildren, and spent as much time as he could with them. They all were truly the light of his life. Harvey worked hard to support his family but never at the expense of his family. He truly believed in quality over quantity. He especially loved his summers at his cottage in Gimli - his Shangri-La here on earth. He will be missed by a great many people. Funeral services took place at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Tuesday, November 21 with Rabbi Alan Green and Rabbi Louis Berkal officiating. Shiva will be sat at his home. Pallbearers were nephews, Robbie Schwartzwald and Bradley Swartz; brothers-in-law, Sidney Swartz, Harold Swartz and Paul Swartz, and cousin Irving Natch. Honorary pallbearers were Jerome Avery, Randal Swartz, Jack Montgomery, Tom Preston, Garth Darrach and Bill Vincent. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Tony Vivian and the staff of the 5th floor at the Grace Hospital for their compassionate care.
