GENEVIEVE ESTHER SCHINDEL Genevieve Esther Schindel, the third child of the late John and Josephine Schindel, was born March 31, 1925 and passed away November 18, 2000 in the home of her niece, Joanne Bergen at Drake, SK. She leaves to mourn her passing three brothers, Alvin (Cora) of Saskatoon, SK, Arthur of North Vancouver, BC, Raymond (Deborah) of Guadalajara, Mexico and one sister Edith (Kenneth) Kvanvig of Cary, North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Joanne (Bob) Bergen, Judith (David) Mitchell, Douglas (Lesley) Schindel, John (Lisa) Schindel, Tim (Marilyn) Kvanvig, Jon (Carol) Kvanvig, Paul (Aletha) Kvanvig, John, David and Andrew Schindel and numerous great nieces and nephews. Esther spent her childhood years on a farm near Arnaud, MB, attended North Star Public School, took at least one year of her complete high school in Winnipeg, graduated from Western Bible College, Winnipeg in 1946 and then worked in places as widely separated as Victoria, Winnipeg and Toronto. She retired to Kelowna, BC where she lived until her struggle with cancer made it impossible for her to take care of herself. Her cheerful personality and gregarious nature enabled her to relate easily with people, particularly with her nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed - we did not expect her to be taken away so quickly. We do, however, give thanks that her struggles are over and that her faith in Christ carried her through this final journey of her earthly life. A memorial service will be held in Drake, SK on Sunday, November 26 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Canadian Bible Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Fotheringham-McDougall Funeral Service, Watrous, SK.
