DOUGLAS CLIFFORD HANDLEY Douglas Clifford Handley of Qualicum Beach, BC passed away on November 18, 2000, age 79 years. Survived by his loving wife Gert; one daughter Bonnie (Paul) Unke of Victoria, BC; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim (Danielle) of Ottawa, ON, Ken (Marg) of Maine, US; two sisters, Barbara (George) Ling of North Bay, ON, Patricia (Ed) Jensen of Ottawa, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son David Bruce in 1988. Doug served in England and Europe with the R.C.A.F. as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer from 1940 - 1945. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Mt. Arrowsmith Branch #49, joined the Masonic Lodge in Fort William, ON in 1948 and became a Shriner in 1966 in Winnipeg, MB. He worked in retail sales all of his life then moved to Qualicum Beach in 1992. There will be an Open House at the family home, 564 Tournament Tour, Qualicum Beach, BC on Saturday, November 25, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Dougs memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, #48 - 70 Church St., Nanaimo, BC V9R 5H4 or Canadian Diabetes Association, 754H - Fairview Rd., Victoria, BC V9A 5T9.
