GEORGE DUNCAN JOHNSON November 20, 2000 Peacefully in his sleep, George Duncan (Dunc) Johnson passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2000 in his 101st year. Born March 19, 1900 in Treherne, Manitoba Dunc grew up farming in the area. He married in 1938 and with his wife (Mae) and two children, George and Barbara moved to Winnipeg in 1951. A strong and hard working man Dunc spent 15 years with the Federated Co-Op and upon his retirement worked as a custodian at the Hugo apartments until the age of 73 when he moved to Fred Tipping Place. Dunc was predeceased by his wife Mary (Mae) Johnson in 1978. He is survived by his children, George (Gail) of Winnipeg and Barbara (Doug) of Calgary; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson as well as his special companion and Love of 20 years Mary Cormick. Dad died of old age, He looked forward to trips back to Treherne in his later years to revisit with old friends and old times. Dad especially enjoyed his 100th Birthday party. When asked whats the secret to his health and old age. His reply was, "I took life easy." Funeral Service will be conducted from the Treherne United Church, Treherne, MB, on Friday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Interment will follow from the Bethel Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Georges memory to the Salvation Army, P.O.
