MARY JOSEPHINE WELLS (nee BEECHINOR) Died Nov. 23, 2000, at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg. Born July 5, 1920, in Moose Jaw, Sask., one of ten children to John Beechinor of Clonakilty, County Cork and Anne Meade of Cara Conway, County Cork. Married Eric Joseph Hampson Wells, August 5, 1940. Mother of Megan, Christopher, Jennifer and Bridget (Munnoch). Grandmother to Sara, Alexandra, Matthew, Christopher, Nicholas, Jake and Will. Predeceased by brother Tom and sister Lillian. Survived by sisters, Peg Feasby, Ann Doherty and Eileen Muzyka and brothers, Jack, Pat, Bob and Reverend Ron Beechinor of Saskatoon. Remembered fondly for her love of original conversation, Sunday breakfast, pugs and her barefoot ability to cast off a fishing dock in evening wear. When you are old and gray and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look, Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead And hid his face amid a crowd of stars. William Butler Yeats Goodnight Maria, may Peace and Serenity finally find you. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held for Mary in the summer of 2001 in Saskatoon.
