Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICHOLAS "NICK" LUCIW It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Nicholas "Nick" Luciw on the 21st day of November, 2000 at home in Calgary at the age of 52 years. Nick is survived by his wife Irene and daughters, Natalie and Andrea. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Eugene (Irene), Bill (Rose), Theresa (Eric), Orest (Tracy) sister-in-law Darlene and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Mike. Nick was born to Joseph and Jaraslawa Luciw in Belgium on July 27, 1948. The family immigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in Winnipeg. After finishing school he obtained his journeyman in sheet metal. He moved to Saskatoon in 1974 where he met Irene Ottmeier and they were married in 1978. Daughters Natalie and Andrea were born in Saskatoon. He obtained journeyman status in plumbing, commercial gasfitting and steamfitter-pipefitter. He worked in numerous cities in Western Canada from Ear Falls Ontario to Vancouver, B.C. His dream was to work in the lower mainland of B.C. to get away from the prairie cold, which he accomplished. The family moved to Calgary in 1994 where Nick and Irene built Carstairs General Services which they operated until his death. Nick was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was very proud of his daughters and their accomplishments. Nick was a real outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, gardening (he had a real green thumb), sports and muscle cars. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage often picking up his violin and playing Ukrainian music. He was a very happy, fun loving person who always left you with a smile on your face. He will be sadly missed by all.
