CLIFF WILLIAMS After a lifetime battle with diabetes, it is with deep regret that we announce the peaceful passing of Cliff Williams on Friday, November 24, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 56 years. He is survived by his loving wife Carole; daughters, Tracy Williams (Brittni and Rylan), Barb and Corey Allum (Codey and Jayden) stepchildren, Todd and Susie Ewach (Harmony, Brenden and Destiny), Andrea and Bruce Bedard (Chantal, Desiree and Drake) sister Darlene (Frank) Ptosnick of Morden, MB; brother Gerald (Carol) Williams; nieces, Marcie (Greg) Finlayson of Chicago, IL, Myra Ptosnick of Tuscon, AZ; nephews, Travis and Beau Williams; sister-in-law Val Bychuk (Ray Simcoe) and father and stepmother, Bill and Margaret Williams of Manitou, MB. Cliff was predeceased by his mother Margaret Williams and brother-in-law Bill Bychuk. Cliff was born and raised in Manitou. He was employed by Investors Group for 23 years before he had to leave due to his illness. Cliff enjoyed working with his clients and never hesitated to go to bat for them when needed. He was fondly known to many of the Blue Bomber players as The Shark. He coached ringette out of the St. Charles Community Club and also sat as a member of the St. James Ringette Association during the 70s. Cliff was an avid curler who participated in numerous bonspiels and was a member of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club for many years. Cliff enjoyed a good game of golf and was always able to supply you with sports stats from many teams with the NY Yankees being his favourite. A private family service will be held on Saturday, December 16, with interment in the cemetery of Glen Eden Memorial Gardens with Rev. Msgr. Ward Jamieson officiating. Our family wishes to extend thanks to the staff on GB2 for all the care and compassion given to Cliff while he was in their care, to Pat Hill for looking after all his dietary needs and the staff in the dialysis unit as well, and to Dr. P. Schroeder and Dr. V. Woo for their longtime care of Cliff. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Cliffs memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association (Winnipeg & District Branch) 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. My mom is Charlotte Williams Harrison, and at age 94, she is living in assisted living in northern Manitoba. It was very many years ago (I am now 71) that my dad Elymer Harrison and my brother and I drove to southern MB one fall and spent a day or so with the Williams and the Ticknors. Because our gardens and fields had been flooded out, we were invited to come down south and help ourselves to the abundance of potatoes produced near Darlingford that year. I was too young then to know the significance of all this, but now I do. I met Darlene and Clifford and Dennis. Good memories. Thank you all. I am sorry to hear of Cliff's passing at the young age of 56. - Posted by: Elaine (Harrison) Wilson (2nd cousin) on: Jan 01, 2014
