ARTHUR ROBERT DAKIN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather in his 91st year on November 20, 2000. Art was predeceased by his wife Doris in February 1999. He will be lovingly missed by his daughters, Brenda and husband Eugene Laird, Myrna and husband Jack Houston; son Mark and wife Sandy Cairns and his many grandchildren, Maureen, Michael, Phillip, Sloane, Ross, Alison and Jennifer. The family surviving are sister Blanche Hay of Kimberley, B.C.; sister-in-law Isabel Brewster of Munster, Ont.; brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Rose Brewster and brother-in-law Bob Cringham along with many nephews and nieces. Art was born and raised in Winnipeg. As a young man, he started a new career in Bissett as bookkeeper for San Antonio Gold Mines. It was here they raised two young daughters. The family moved to Brandon for 3 short years were he worked for MacArthur and Son. The final move was to Winnipeg were he worked for Consolidated Plate Glass until his retirement, as accountant and general manager. Their son was born to complete the family. Art will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour and engaging personality. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing while in the "bush". He always had a keen interest in photography. He loved dogs and showed his prize boxer dog in many local dog shows. In sports his greatest passion was his love of golf, where he made countless friends and he and Doris shared the love of the game as members of the Pine Ridge and the St. Charles Country Club. He achieved great heights at golf, including "a hole in one" five times. In later years Art and Doris took many winter golf holidays in the Southern States. It was just in the past couple of years that his health began to fail. At this time he resided at the Wellington were staff extended such compassion and understanding. We wish to thank all of you.
