MARGARET OLIVE IRVINE (nee FERRIER) On Saturday, November 25, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg, Margaret Olive Irvine passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 79. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Laird and his wife Phyllis and family; her brother Laird and his wife Joan; many friends and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Cecil in 1983 and her sister Ann Templeman in 1996. Margaret was born in Brandon, MB on September 3, 1921. She followed her mothers footsteps and entered nurses training in Brandon in 1941. She met her husband John who was convalescing in the hospital from an injury he received training to be a soldier at Camp Shilo. They married and John was sent overseas. Margaret and John separated on his return from the war. Margaret joined the T. Eaton Company in Winnipeg as a sales clerk in the fur department. She served as a model, fur buyer, and eventually became assistant manager at Eatons Edmonton Street store. In 1961, Margaret and John remarried and she relocated to Pine Falls, MB. There she started and managed a Eatons catalogue sales office until Eatons closed down their entire catalogue sales division. Margaret attracted many friends and she and John lived in Pine Falls until Johns death. In 1984 Margaret moved to Winnipeg where she resided until her passing. An admirer of beauty and fine things Margaret cherished her friends and delighted in sharing experiences with them. Her activities and involvements included the Pine Falls United Church Ladies Auxiliary, the Pine Falls Golf Club, the Ladies Curling Club, the Hospital Auxiliary, The School Driver Instruction Program and The 2080 Pembina Hwy. Seniors Club in Winnipeg. Her zest for life and her attitude was reflected in her surroundings. The company she kept and clothes she wore she will always be remembered as a classy lady. She gave of herself and was regular contributor to many charities. At her request, cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2:00 p.m. in the Southview Plaza, 2080 Pembina Highway in the Seniors Club Room. Also on Thursday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pine Falls United Church, Pine Falls, MB. Interment will follow in the Pine Falls Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, if so desired friends are requested to send memorial donations to a charity of their choice.
