CHRISTINA MARY "TENA" SUNDELL On Thursday, November 16, 2000, Christina Mary "Tena" Sundell, beloved wife of the late Eric Sundell, passed away at Hillcrest Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba. Tena was born on April 7, 1912 in Wawanesa, Manitoba, the daughter of the late John and Christina Burgess. She received her early education in Wawanesa and in 1934, graduated as a registered nurse from the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing. Her career involved several years of country nursing in the Wawanesa District where she soon became known as a very capable and caring person. Following this, Tena moved to Rochester, Minnesota, nursing in the Mayo Clinic until her return home in 1941. On September 30, 1944, Tena married Eric Sundell of Treesbank, and they spent many happy years farming in the Treesbank area until their retirement to Brandon in 1966. She was predeceased by her husband Eric (1992) brothers, Frank, Jim, Neil, and John Burgess; and a sister, Margaret Gould. Left to cherish her memory are sisters, Jennie Forkes of Sorrento, B.C., Louise Wanless of Comox, B.C., and Marion Dempsey of Comox, B.C.; sisters-in-law, Marion Burgess of Winnipeg, Agnes Burgess of Russell and Irene Burgess of Chilliwack, B.C., and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel in Brandon on Tuesday, November 21, with Rev. Gordon Stevenson officiating. Pallbearers were Les Anderson, Jimmie Cullen, Terry Everard, Tom Sundell, Jack Burgess, and Ronald Burgess. Interment followed in the Millford Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan.
