JOAO DE MEDEIROS Sadly on Saturday, November 25, 2000, Joao De Medeiros, aged 71 years, passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Joao is survived by his wife Judith; two daughters, Maria Idalina (Tony) Troubridge and Maria De Lurdes (Georges) dAuteuil; five grandchildren, Andre, Veronica and Christopher, Samuel and Michel; three sisters, Rosaline (Manuel) Resendes and Maria (Luis) Silva of Rhode Island and Ines (Eugenio) Matos of Montreal; four brothers, Manuel (Beatriz) of Boston, Jose (Maria) and Alfredo (Dalia) of Rhode Island and Carlos (Zenaida) of Montreal as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many other family and friends. Joao was predeceased by his parents, Manule De Medeiros and Virginia Teixeira and one nephew. "He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends." In tears we saw you sinking We watched you fade away, You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, But still you kept on fighting, Until the very end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered "Come with Me". So when we saw you sleeping, So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back, To suffer that again. Prayers will be said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 28 at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 29 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St., with Rev. Fr. Jose Medeiros officiating. Interment will follow in the Assumption Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Victoria Hospital staff and the Health Sciences Centre staff for their excellent care of our husband and father, especially Dr. Williams and Physiotherapist Denny and nurse Win who helped us through the hardest moments.
