DORA KURYK With saddened hearts, we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Dora Kuryk. She leaves to cherish her most precious memory, husband Paul Kuryk; her son Lorne Zagrodnik (Adriana) grandchildren Travis, Charlene, Rachel, Tatiana and Ivana; her daughter Sylvia Rodrigues (Johnny) grandchildren Nicole (Rod), Dori and Michelle. She is also survived by sisters Polly Tomchuk and Jennie Marych; sisters-in-law Doreen Cymbalisty, Karin Cymbalisty; brother-in-law Metro Tomchuk, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dora was predeceased by her first husband Bill Zagrodnik in 1961, parents Anastasia (Nellie) and Stanley Cymbalisty; brothers Nick, John and Joe; sisters Mary Tomchuk and Ann Genyk. Dora was born in Fisher Branch on December 13, 1922. Attended Ringrose School, later marrying Bill Zagrodnik where they farmed together until his passing. She continued to farm by herself until she married her second husband Paul Kuryk, continuing to farm together. She also worked for 26 years at the Interlake Motor Hotel Restaurant. She was a lady with great integrity, always devoted to her family and friends and having a great zest for life. Active always, doing things neatly, correctly and to the best of her ability. Dora encountered a setback with a severe heart attack in 1989 but was able to recover with perseverance along with the inspiration to see her grandchildren grow up. Upon her retirement Dora searched for ways to make her days fulfilled. Her family and grandchildren benefitted from her culinary skills. Needlepoint, socializing, playing cards and VLTs occupied most of her time. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 1 at the Fisher Funeral Home. Burial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2 at the Immaculate Conception Church, in Fisher Branch with Rev. Wesley Barrett officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doras memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8. Arrangements in care of Fisher Funeral Home, (204)372-6271 or (204)372-6803.
