VIKTORIA (VICKY) MITTERMAYR Peacefully, on November 29, 2000 with her family by her side, our Heavenly Father called Vicky home to be with Him. Vicky was born September 22, 1926, in Linz, Austria. She was affectionately known as Dorli by her family and friends. She first began working as a kindergarten teacher. She had a great love for children. Following her beloved Fred to Canada in 1952, they married and settled in Winnipeg, where she lived the rest of her life. Vicky found great joy in her home, shopping, travelling, reading, going to movies, dancing with Fred, but most especially was her love of her family, grandchildren, friends and neighbours and she was the best Austrian cook in Canada. She loved to make her family laugh, at least "once a day". She was a kind and gentle soul with a warm and caring nature. She had the most beautiful smile and bright, blue eyes. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church for years as her children were growing up and later often worshipped with her dear neighbours. She will be sadly missed by her children, Heidi and Brad with their children, Sandi, Joel, Kate and Julie Schollenberg; Vicky, Gary and Coreen with their daughter Drew. Leaving to mourn as well are her Canadian family, Al, Kay and John Baderl; Bill, Monika, Chris and Jennifer Gerullis and all her family in Austria. She was predeceased by her husband Fred, whose birthday was December 4. Thank you to all the many people who supported Vicky and her family during her illness. To Dr. Olson, to all the doctors and nurses of Cancer Care Manitoba and to the Palliative Care Ward, St. Boniface, our deepest appreciation. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 4 at 12:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Luxton Avenue with Pastor Brad Schollenberg of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Reception will follow the service at Cropos Rose Room. Interment will follow the reception at Waverley Memorial Gardens. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL, in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
