MARY McKINNON Mary, on Wednesday, November 29 at age 82 in Victoria, B.C. Mary was born in Croft, Lancashire, England on April 17, 1918, and emigrated to Canada with her family in 1925, settling near Elkhorn, Man. She lived in Manitoba most of her life, moving to Victoria, B.C. in 1994. An avid and knowledgeable gardener, Mary expressed her artistic nature through sewing, knitting, her love of music, reading and her writings. She was a caring and giving woman who loved life, her family and her friends. Mary was predeceased by her husbands, John McLeod and Clifford McKinnon and her brother Lewis Birchall. She is dearly missed by her devoted friend Len Ward; daughter Joy McLeod; son Michael McKinnon; grandsons, Sean Veley (Marion Drakos), Ty and Liam McKinnon; granddaughters, Sandra Veley (James Suggitt), Lindsay and Regan McKinnon and her precious great-granddaughter Sophia Mary Jane; her siblings, Annie Overand (Grant) of Elkhorn, Man., Betty Birchall, Effie Shoemaker (Fred) of Brandon, Man., and Doug Birchall (Judy) and Lens family, Debra, Stan and family. A memorial service led by our friend, Rev. Ron Attwell, will be held on Saturday, December 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Elk Lake Baptist Church, 5363 Pat Bay Highway, Victoria, B.C. It is with great sadness that the family shares this news. We are grateful to Marys many friends who are being so supportive during this difficult time and to the nurses and doctors who worked so hard with her during the past week. Even though she loved gardening and flowers, Mary would have preferred that friends wishing to express their sorrow make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
