Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE KENNETH RITCHIE March 21, 1915- November 29, 2000 Peacefully, at home in his sleep, George Ritchie passed away on November 29, 2000 at age 85. He is survived by his daughter Valerie Ayers (Chris) of Toronto, and son Ken (Adeline) of Winnipeg. Also left to cherish his memory are his sister-in-law Lauretta Ritchie, niece Jackie Greenhalgh (Ted) and her daughters Heather and Carolyn Ritchie; Anthony Jeffers, Shelley and Gord Meager, and Michael and Trish Buhr. He was predeceased by his brother Jack Ritchie (1967), his first wife Edna (1969), his second wife Jacqueline (1998) and his nephew Bob Ritchie (1997). George, son of Ike and Hattie, was born and raised in Winnipeg, attending Luxton and St. Johns Schools. After service in the RCAF during the Second World War, he had a career in radio and television which spanned several decades. He started at CKY Radio and later moved to CBC Television where he retired as the manager of program clearance in 1975. Following the death of Edna, George married Jacq Wilson. Together they enjoyed their retirement and spent many years travelling and gardening. George loved music and entertaining. His family and friends can recall many happy hours spent in the Ritchie home with George belting out favourite tunes on his piano. He had a style that was truly unique. He was generous with his time and his hospitality, and particularly enjoyed his annual Christmas parties. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5 at Thomson Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway at Sherbrook, 783-7211. The family looks forward to seeing his friends and sharing memories. GO IN PEACE, GEORGE
