Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETH) KRALL 1910 - 2000 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother (Baba) and friend Beth Krall. Beth passed away peacefully, with her loving family at her side on Sunday, December 3, 2000 at Seven Oaks General Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband Ernie; sister Jessie; brothers, Danny, Clyde and Eddie; as well as her sister-in-law Vickie. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Lois (Mike) her four grandchildren, Brent (Susan), Jayson (Sherry), Kyla (Dave), Daneal (Barb) great-granddaughter Ellana, and many friends and extended family. Beth was born in Winnipeg on February 1, 1910. She spent her early years in North Winnipeg and Parkdale, Manitoba, where her family managed an orphanage and seniors care facility. There she met her life long friend, Eloise. The family then moved back to the Winnipeg North End. The Peoples Cooperative Ltd employed Beth for over 33 years as both a clerk and a cashier. While employed at the Peoples Co-Op she befriended many including her future husband Ernie. On November 25, 1939 she and Ernie were married and they began their life together in an apartment on Aikins Street, then moving to Luxton Avenue and eventually to their own home on Jefferson Avenue. It was here that Beth lived independently until her passing. Beth was a vital, active and accomplished woman. She was a life long member of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians (A.U.U.C.), which she joined in 1922 at the age of 12. In 1958 she was sent as a delegate of the A.U.U.C. on an international tour sponsored by the Womens International Democratic Federation in Vienna. This was one of the highlights of her life. She held numerous positions of office within the A.U.U.C. right up until her passing. She has also been a long-standing member of the Ukrainian Labour Temple. During this time she taught English to Russian Immigrants, served as a member of the Cultural Committee and was an active member of the choir. A faithful member of the Manitoba Peace Council, she participated in the Walk for Peace until the age of 85. Beth performed a pivotal role in Folklorama for many years. Her perogy making expertise was second to none. It was a rare day that her perogies made it from the pan to the table untouched. Beth and Ernie enjoyed travelling. She fondly recalled their trips to Acapulco, Mexico. She later enjoyed trips with family and friends to Europe, Cuba, and Palm Springs, California, but her favourite was summer camping adventures and time spent at the family cottages in Grand Beach and Farlane, Ontario. One of the highlights of her 90th Birthday was a trip to Tucson, Arizona with daughter Lois, son-in-law Mike, and dear family friends Liz and Mars. She took great pleasure in everything that she did especially reading, writing, drawing, singing, baking, fishing, and blueberry picking to name a few. She needed constant challenges and began art lessons in her eighties. She had a special fondness for supplying her family with cookies, jellybeans and date cake. For the last ten years, she shared her home with K.T., her hand picked kitten, chosen for her and affectionately named after her granddaughter Kyla Tamara, a.k.a. Grandmas Little Princess. Grandmas legacy is her passion for life, fuelled by her family, many close friends and boundless interests. Her love, kindness, and zest for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her greatest gift to her family is an extensive compilation of her memoirs. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the emergency staff at the Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care and ompassion. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 6 between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Luxton Avenue. Cremation will follow the Viewing and a Celebration of her Life will be held on Friday, December 8 at 2:00 p.m., also at Cropo Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Seven Oaks Hospital Foundation, 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, R2V 3M3. A plaque in her memory will be placed at Seven Oaks Hospital. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
