MARIE ANDERSON On December 2, 2000 at Seven Oaks General Hospital Marie Anderson, of Winnipeg died at the age of 79 years. She is survived by two sons, Alex (Astrid) and Randy (Bernice "Bunny") of Winnipeg, two daughters Karen (Reno) Calabrigo of Toronto and Charlene (Brian) Mireault of Vermilion Bay, ON; 11 grandchildren; former husband Alex; four brothers Jake, Henry, Paul and Peter and one sister Anne. Marie was predeceased by parents John and Pat Shermeto, one sister Pauline Smith, and good friend Joe Dowhan. Marie was the first child born to John and Pat Shermeto in Canora, Sask. She moved to Winnipeg in her early 20s where she met her husband Alex. They were married in 1946 and began raising a family of four children. She enjoyed gardening. Marie was a founding member of the local Horticultural Society and participated in many flower shows, winning numerous awards. Special thanks to her very good friend Doreen Kadash, family, friends and neighbours, who have helped and supported her in her home over the years. Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Highway. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Assiniboine Park Conservatory.
