Date of Passing: Dec 04, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRTLE CAROLINE YOUNG The morning of Monday, December 4, 2000, Myrtle Young let go of life after a courageous struggle with failing health. Her sons, Bryan and Eric, plus her six grandchildren, Scott, Braeden, and recent deceased son Larrys children, Jason, David, Kyle and Megan, will always miss her. Mom left us as she lived with never a complaint. She appreciated her last years at the Riverview Health Centre and the people who cared for her. We are sure that she would want us to thank the staff at Riverview for their attention to her last years. Myrtle Young was born in Winnipeg, 1916 where she enjoyed her early life in active sports. Graduating from school at 15 after skipping three grades, she pursued a career with the Hudson Bay Company and later Searle Grain. Myrtle was a passionate athlete and her enthusiasm for swimming and diving lead to a rewarding career later in her life. Following her full time job as mother of three boys she started a new job founded on her volunteer work as a Red Cross aquatics instructor. Myrtle will be remembered for her work at the St. James Civic Centre. Her dedication to aquatics programs pioneered family programs available to the community today. Till her retirement from the City of St. James she enjoyed the benefits and rewards in working teaching others. In respect to her wishes, a formal service will not be held. Instead, her memory will always be with us each day. The residents of Riverview will remember Myrtle at the service this coming Sunday. The family would appreciate thoughts of sympathy be expressed by way of a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
