HELD (nee SCHMIDT) It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ursula Rosalie Held who entered into Eternal Rest at the Victoria General Hospital on Thursday, December 7, 2000. Ursula was born in Germany on October 26, 1922. She came to Canada with her parents and grandparents in 1924 and settled in the Waldersee, Manitoba district. Ursula attended school in Waldersee and later graduated from Business College, which was followed by seven years employment with the City of Winnipeg Assessment Department. In 1953 Ursula married Harry Held and resided in Winnipeg where they raised their family. Ursula was a very artistic person and enjoyed gathering anything and everything that was of interest to the family. She enjoyed music, and in her youth she was the organist in her church at Waldersee. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her beloved husband Harry of 47 years; sons, Harry Jr., Richard (Marcia) grandsons, Garrett and Patrick; daughter Lora (Malcolm) Harwood; daughter Rose of Calgary; son Fred and daughter Heidi of Yellowknife; brothers, Erwin Schmidt (Jeanne), Kurt Schmidt (Frances), Herbert Schmidt (Lorraine), Richard Schmidt (Eleanor) sister Victoria Voth (Peter) sisters and brothers-in-law, Lily and Arnold Neumann and Edith and Guenther Gnuschke of Germany and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Friedrich and Rosalie Schmidt. Ursulas funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, at 2:00 p.m., in the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St. at Ellice Avenue with Pastor Christoph Reiners officiating. For those who wish, viewing will be held one hour prior to her service in church. Interment will follow in the cemetery of Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Thank you to V.O.N. nurse Chris Davies for her years of loyal service.
