LYDIA REDLER September 11, 1908- December 8, 2000 Peacefully, at the St. Norbert Nursing Home, Lydia passed away with her loving family by her side, at the age of 92 years. Lydia was predeceased by her loving husband Johannes; two sisters in Germany; her grandson Brian Wittmann in 1989 and also her son-in-law Hans Wittmann in 1999. Left to cherish her loving memory is her sister Valeria Zottmann; her two children, Alex Redler and Val Wittmann; grandson Rob Wittmann (Donna) and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Bailey and Emma. She also leaves numerous nephews and nieces in Germany and Russia. "Oma" experienced a dynamic and challenging life, first in Russia and then in Germany, before emigrating to Canada in 1956. From their home in Winnipeg, she built a strong foundation on which her family flourished. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at the St. Norbert Nursing Home, for their kind and compassionate care in the short time she was with them. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at Mother Mary of the Church, 85 Kirkfield, with Father Carl Tarnopolski presiding. A gathering of family and friends will follow. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 100 Olivia St., Wpg MB R3E 0V9 or to the Alzheimer Society of MB, 120 Donald St., Wpg MB R3C 4G2.
