ERNEST HENRY LONG Suddenly on December 7, 2000 Ernest Henry Long passed away at his residence at the age of 84 years. Beloved husband of Margaret Peggy Long, his wife of thirty-eight years, he will be sadly missed by his daughter Irene and husband Ashraf; grandsons, Andrew and Jacob; many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews in England and Canada. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Charles Oakley. "Ernie" was both a Canadian and English War Veteran who loved to play organ music and volunteer his time knitting for various charities. He was an accomplished Baker and Gardener who enjoyed growing geraniums in his greenhouse. He loved to spoil his grandsons with jam tarts, cookies and home-made bread. He will be sadly missed by all but especially his friends and neighbours on Kilkenny Drive. There will be a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, R2L 1X3 or to the Autism Society of Manitoba, 825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1M5.
