Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHIRLEY YVONNE KING (nee PARKER, nee YOUNGMAN) On December 8, 2000 - 2 days after her 73rd birthday, Shirley passed away quietly at St. Boniface Hospital. She leaves behind her many people who loved her and will miss her deeply. This includes her loving husband Harry King, who was at her side when she passed away. Her soul rose and departed this earth; just as her childrens plane descended and arrived in Winnipeg. She will be also missed by her daughter Wendy Davies (nee Parker) along with Wendys husband, Ralph Davies, and also by Shirleys son David Parker and Davids Wife Christine Parker. Shirley also leaves behind many Grandchildren, all of whom are feeling the loss of their Grandmother. This includes: Neil Parker - 21, Steven Parker - 19, Jereme Davies - 19, Jonathan Parker - 18, Matthew Davies - 18, Nathanael Davies - 15, Michael Parker - 13, Heather Parker - 11 (Shirleys only Granddaughter), Eric Parker - 2 (Who only got to meet his grandmother once). Shirley also leaves behind her only brother, George Youngman of Winnipeg. From the age of 3, Shirley lived with limitation from Muscular Dystrophy. Though somewhat limited in her movement, it never changed her sunny disposition and joy of life. With her father, Charles Youngman, passing away during the depression, Shirley entered the business world young, going into the banking world in Winnipeg. Shirley married at age 25 to her first husband Ken Parker. Together they raised their two children in Montreal. As a mother, Shirley kept a happy home and always cared deeply about her children, family, and others. Shirley moved back to Winnipeg in the late seventies. Here she was employed as executive secretary at first the Hotel Fort Gary, and then the Birtchwood Inn. Early in 1980 Shirley was suddenly predeceased by her first husband Ken. In Winnipeg, Shirley was able to help her mother Dorothy (Dolly) Youngman (nee Ould). Dorothy predeceased Shirley in 1997. In 1982 Shirley married Harry King. Shirley and Harry spent much of the early part of their marriage indulging their love of travel. This travelling slowly came to an end as Shirleys second major aliment developed severe Arthritis. This combined with the still active muscular dystrophy, was a bad combination. These 2 crippling diseases conspired to slowly rob Shirley of much of her ability to move. Throughout these difficult years, Shirley never lost her upbeat, positive attitude. Her husband, Harry, worked with selfless and powerful determination to ensure that Shirley would continue to live at home. Harry and Shirleys determination, combined with the help of many Home Care workers, as well as VON nurses, allowed Shirley to live at home. At her time of passing, Shirley was still living at home. She only entered hospital on December 5, three days before her passing. Finally, on Friday, December 8, Shirley King, a person of great Heart - by way of courage, of large Heart, by way of compassion and kindness to all, left this life, because her physical heart had been left too weakened by her ailments. Shirley will be missed by all who knew and loved her. There will be a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway.
