MARGARY GERTRUDE LINKLATER Peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2000 at the Red River Nursing Home, Selkirk, Margary began her journey towards eternal life and peace with her parents, George and Ethel. She was predeceased by her brother Laird in 1962 and sister-in-law Geraldine 1983. Gertrude (Gert) was a woman with a kind and loving heart. Born in Stony Mountain on June 22, 1917, she eventually moved to Winnipeg where she had a successful career with Manitoba Hydro. She enjoyed a long and fruitful retirement. Her greatest joy was travelling to Hawaii, Australia, Hong Kong, Europe, and Scotland. Her fondest adventure took her to the Orkney Islands, where she conducted genealogy research on the Linklaters. She was an artist. The delicate needlepoint, fine paintings, ceramics and stuffed toys she created will forever be cherished by her family. She loved baseball and received great joy whenever the Toronto Blue Jays were playing. Her passing leaves to mourn sister Bernice (Horace) nephew Brian (Cheryl), Laird, Deborah and Gerald (and baby), Tracey; niece Patricia (Donn), Ryan and Richard. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Red River Place. Their care of Gert over the last several years was greatly appreciated. At her request cremation has taken place. A private memorial service was held on Monday, December 11 at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. A small private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Cloverdale United Church, Cloverdale, MB with Rev. barb janes officiating. In lieu of flowers friends and family may make donations to the Alzheimers Society. "Her Journeys Just Begun" (E. Brenneman) Dont think of her as gone away -- her journeys just begun, life holds so many facets -- this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how she must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched... For nothing loved is ever lost -- and she was loved so much. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
