ERNEST NORMAN FLEURY (BAKER) Cradled in the love of family and friends, Ernest Norman Fleury died peacefully after a lengthy battle with cancer on December 8, 2000 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, MB. Ernest is predeceased by his father Joseph. He will be forever remembered by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years Theresa; his children, Eric (Heather), Harold (Marlis), Vernon (Rose), Tony and special friend Micheline, Marie Antonio (Harold), Debbie Glesmann (Ralph) and numerous foster children. Also leaving to mourn his passing his mother of 98 years Flora Fleury; brothers, Rene (June), Norman (Ruth) sisters, Deana Haney, Clara McMaster (Roy), Rita Brazeau (Abie), Lorraine Parker (Bob), Betty Morin, Terese Thiell (Bernard), 20 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Ernest was born on September 12, 1931 in St. Lazare, MB and settled in Winnipeg in the mid 60s. Baker found his calling as truck driver for Motorways Transport where he remained for 36 years until his retirement. Sports of all kind were always a part of his life, playing and coaching for many years. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 28 years as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. The family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the St. Boniface Cancer Clinic and the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli and the many friends who came to visit and pray for him. Prayers will be held at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church in Gimli on December 12 at 7:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow in the church hall. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated December 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels with a luncheon to follow the service. Interment will take place in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ernests memory to the Canadian Cancer Society as tokens of remembrance.
