ANDREW CORDNER It is with great sadness that the family of Andrew Cordner announces his passing on December 10, 2000 in Winnipeg. Andrew as a devoted husband, father and "papa". He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lillian of 38 years; his daughter Suzanne (John) son Christopher (Elizabeth), and daughter Serena (Wayne). "Papa" will be sadly missed by his seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Ashley, Shane, Brittany, Amber, Ainsley and Megyn. He also leaves to cherish his three brothers, Jack (Sheila) of Winnipeg, Jim of County Antrim, N. Ireland and Isaac of Hamburg, Germany. Andrew was born in Dunanney, Mill House, Carnmoney, N. Ireland and grew to become an accomplished stained glass artist. He decided to come to Winnipeg in 1958, where he met his wife and then decided to begin his own business, "Western Art Glass Ltd.". Andrews talent was never hindered through his trials with rheumatoid arthritis which overtook his body ravagely. However, he was a man with great determination and strong will and nothing was impossible, there was always another way. The family wishes to express their greatest gratitude to the staff of GH4 of the Health Sciences Centre for all their compassionate care for our Dad. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may be made in Andrews memory to the Arthritis Society and CancerCare Manitoba. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. A private family interment will follow the reception. We did not know that morning What sorrow the day would bring The bitter grief, the shock severe To part with one we love so dear. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay You faced your task with courage Your spirit did not bend, But you still kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you And whispered, "Come to Me" So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain We could not wish you back To suffer that again "We love you Dad, "Papa".
