GEORGE HARTLEY (SLIM) ELDRIDGE Beloved husband, father and brother passed over at his home on December 11, 2000, with his family by his side after a year long battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma cancer. Slim (nicknamed as a teenager) is survived by his wife Joyce; son Kelly; daughter Bridget; sister Angie; brother-in-law Armin; nephew Bill and many extended family members, friends and co-workers who will remember his sweetness and love always. Slim was born on March 6, 1940 in Hepworth, Ontario. He settled in Estevan, Saskatchewan in 1957 where he met and married Joyce Selk in 1965. Slim worked for Utility Coal from 1959 to 1979. He and his family moved abroad to Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia where he ran the Southern Area Maintenance Training Division until moving in 1988 to Winnipeg, where he fulfilled a dream of selling GM cars. From May 1990 until his death he was Vice President of Engineering for Perths Dry Cleaners. Slim enjoyed gardening, traveling, scuba diving and sailing among many other activities. He owned 56 cars in his life and kept them all showroom clean. Memorial service will be held at the Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB., 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Boniface General Hospital and especially the Cancer Care Unit at Health Sciences Centre for their never failing care and support.
