ANDREW HENRY BENDERA Andrew Bendera, beloved father of Ernie and Eugene Bendera passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2000. He was predeceased by his wife Anne; his grandson Curtis and his 3 sisters, Tina, Dora and Annie. Andrew was born in the Ukraine. At a very young age, he and his parents immigrated to Manitoba, to settle at farming in the Thalberg area. Later as a young man, he met and married Anne in Winnipeg. For many years he worked for CP Rail, enabling the family to enjoy many holidays by rail. In later years, Andrew was interested in real estate and owned rooming houses, apartment blocks and a hotel in Winnipeg, Gilbert Plains and Glenboro. Andrew was a long-standing member of St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church and served on a number of different committees. He enjoyed tinkering with automobiles, going to the beach, seeing his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. Andrew leaves to mourn son Ernie (Elizabeth) and son Eugene (Carol) grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Philip, Nancy (Brad) Porath, Rhonda (John) Pineau and Trevor Bendera; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Scott, Kaitlynn, Megan, Ainsley, Brianne and Kai. The family would like to thank Holy Family Nursing Home for all their care and kindness. Prayers will be held on Thursday, December 14, at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Mass and Celebration of His Life will be held on Friday, December 15, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Andrews Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave. with Rev. Fr. J. Holowaty officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
