DONALD MATHEWS On Tuesday, December 12, 2000, Don died at the Grace General Hospital. Don will be missed by Marian, his loving wife of 45 years; his daughters and their respective families, Susan and Irv Micflikier and their sons, Aaron, Benjamin and Joshua and Kathleen and Doug Ankrom and their daughters, Amanda, Nikole and Hannah. Don was predeceased by his parents, Don and Kay Mathews; in-laws, Murray and Margaret Croll; infant daughter Linda and his sister Joyce Webb. Don was born in Winnipeg on September 24, 1933 and had lived here all of his life. He began working at the Manitoba Telephone System in 1953 and retired after 38 years of service. He enjoyed travelling, especially in Greece, Victoria and California. His passion for justice led to many years of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and the Main Street Project. Don loved "banging boards" and spent many happy hours in his workshop. He was a squash enthusiast and friendships made on the squash court outlasted his ability to play. He enjoyed cooking at his "gourmet" dinner club. His fishing group brought him many years of laughter but not many fish. He dearly loved his grandchildren and "grandpups" and he showed infinite patience with them. Cremation has taken place. A remembrance reception for Don will be held at the Immanuel United Church, 755 Golspie at Kimberly in East Kildonan, from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15. If friends so desire, donations in Dons memory may be made to the Main Street Project, 75 Martha St., Winnipeg, R3B 1A4 or to the Habitat for Humanity, 75 Archibald St., Winnipeg, R2J 0V7, or to the Winnipeg Harvest, 1085 Winnipeg Ave., Winnipeg, R3E 0S2, or to a charity of ones choice. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220
