ARNTHRUDA (THRUDA) STEFANSSON Peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2000, Thruda passed away at the age of 95 years. Thruda was born in Iceland and came to Canada as an infant, her family settling in Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her loving husband Dori in 1983; her son Lincoln in 1998 and nine brothers and sisters. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Pat Bowman, Thora Fell and her son Gilbert. She will also be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, her sister Alla and many nieces and nephews. In spite of her exceptionally disciplined approach to her work, exercise programs, sound nutrition, and personal appearance, she was enjoyed for her wit and sense of fun. She took great pleasure in maintaining close ties with a wide circle of family members and friends, all of whom adored her. She was an inspiration to all. Thruda felt extremely fortunate to be under Dr. Carey Isaacs kind and gentle care. The family extends warm thanks to him as well as to the dedicated staff at Concordia Hospital. As pre-arranged by Thruda, her body has been contributed to the University of Manitoba for the advancement of medicine through anatomical study. At her request, there will be no service. Family and friends are invited to a gathering at Chapel Lawn Reception Centre at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Variety Club of Manitoba, 611 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg, MB, R3M O8A or to a favourite charity.
