ADOLF ZIMMERMANN With sadness in our hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our loving father and grandfather on December 14, 2000. "Abba" will be remembered forever by his family, Willy, Filip, Hanna and Linda; grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Eric, Rona and Ariel. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in Israel and the United States and many, many close friends. Adolf was predeceased by his wife Freda of 51 years, in 1998. Together they raised their treasured sons. Adolf was a loving father and devoted husband. He was born in Chernovitz, Romania on May 16, 1920. Even though he lost most of his family during the Holocaust, he went on, seeking small happy moments in life. After the war he moved to Arad, Romania where he married Freda. The family moved again in 1963 to Israel and Adolf became "the photographer of choice" for weddings and other joyous occasions. People used to say "before you knew it, the picture was taken". In 1980 Adolf and Freda moved to Winnipeg and he integrated into his new home in Canada extremely successfully. He developed many close friendships. He was proud and happy to be a Canadian. Adolf was proud of his close relationship with his sons. He was always eager to help his sons with their businesses. They also shared many fishing trips together in Canada and in Florida. Adolf was an intellect, classical music lover and avid reader. He spoke seven languages and read everything he could in every language. He transmitted his love for learning and creativity to his grandchildren. Sabba lived his life honestly and independently by his own values. This is the legacy he passes on to his grandchildren - "Be true to yourself". Funeral services will be held on December 17 at the Chesed Shel Emes, 1023 Main St., at 2:30 p.m. Following interment at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, shiva will be observed at 18 Birkenhead Ave. until 9:00 p.m. December 20. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
