COLLETTE BINNIE We announce with much sadness the death of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Collette Binnie on Saturday, December 16, 2000 at the Victoria Hospital. Mom was born August 27, 1923 in Winnipeg. She will be greatly missed by her son Cliff (Karla) daughters Lee (Bob) Rye and Louise (Rick) Findlay; grand-children Joel Rye, Morrie Rye, Alana Binnie (Darcy Arnold), Adam Findlay (Gillian Colwell), Paul Findlay (Correne Omland), and great-granddaughters Kaylynn Joelle and Talia Lee. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Betty Neiles, Dorothy Kaake, Elsie Strom, and Dorothy Kaake and brothers-in-law Allan Binnie, Bob Binnie, Jack Hagman and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in August 1985, and grandchildren Denny Jason Rye (October 1972) and Erin Elizabeth Rye (September 1972) and her brothers Kervyn and Gordon Kaake. With the melting of winter snow, Mom could be found packing for the lake. She loved her cottage at Lester Beach spending all and every summer for nearly 40 years. Cremation has taken place. Following a private family interment, a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at 2:30 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Rev. Alan Doerksen officiating. Reception will follow. Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Scott Young, the paramedics and ambulance attendants and the staff at the Victoria Hospital.
