MARY STAWNYCHKO (nee ZURBA) The family announces with sadness, the passing of their Mother, Baba and sister, on Saturday, December 16, 2000 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her husband John, three brothers, Peter, Mike and Alec and three sisters, Annie, Polly and Alice. Mary will be deeply missed by her loving family; son John (Judy) Stawnychko; daughter Joanne (Dave) McNabb; grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Erin and Kelly Stawnychko, Monika Stewart (John), Leanne, Scott and Brad (Suzanne) McNabb and great-grandchildren, Brent and Erik Stewart, Paige McNabb, Carli McNabb and Abby Stawnychko, brother Fred (Marge) Zurba, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mary was born in Fork River, Manitoba, August 29, 1909. She married John in 1931 in Winnipeg where they lived and raised their family. For the past six years, Mary resided with Joanne and Dave. In 1990, she moved with them to Gimli which was very special to her. She and John had enjoyed many summers in Gimli with friends and family, since their first cottage there in 1946. Mary lived her life for her family. Nothing made her happier than visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her 90th birthday was a very special occasion when family and friends gathered in Gimli to celebrate and share this wonderful day. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing to commence one half hour prior to the service, in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Highway No. 1 East at Green Acres Lane, with Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations in Marys memory may be made to Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured, (ARBI), 3412 Spruce Drive, S.W. Calgary, AB, T3C 3A4. Our sincere thanks to the staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli and the Selkirk District General Hospital and the wonderful women who provided home care to Mom in the past year.
