LYLE JAMES BARTLEY Lyle James Bartley, husband, father and grandfather died in the company of his family on Saturday, December 16, 2000 at the age of 59 years. Lyle will be sadly missed by Shirley, his wife of 35 years; his daughter Kara Dawn (Ken) of Toronto, and his most precious grandson Jacob Quinten. His father, Joseph Bartley; sister Myrna Hammond; nieces, Cheryl of Edmonton, Heather (Dave) Kirsten and Sara also mourn his passing. Lyle grew up in Langenburg, Sask., then moved to Minnedosa, Man., where he met Shirley. They moved to Winnipeg shortly thereafter and made their home in Charleswood ever since. He was given a second chance 26 years ago when he received a kidney transplant - enabling him to take an active part in Karas growing years by coaching sports and planning treasure hunts at Easter and Christmas. Travelling was a valued family activity. Together Lyle, Shirley and Kara spent many vacations camping or touring from coast to coast in North America and Europe. He was especially thankful to see Kara graduate, get married, and one of his proudest moments came this past summer when he announced Jacobs birth to friends and family. Lyle worked in the printing industry - starting in production, moving to sales and most recently running his own business "Dawn Graphics". Lyle was active in the Club of Printing House Craftsmen serving in many capacities including that of President and Past-President. He was an avid outdoorsman and lived life to the fullest - fishing in the summer, hunting in the fall, snowmobiling in the winter and working in as many jaunts on his motorcycle as he could. Through these adventures, Lyle made many life-long friends. He also promoted outdoor activities through his involvement in the Wildlife Game and Fish Association. We would like to thank Dr. D. Rush of the Nephrology Department for his continued care over the years and his support and understanding over the past week as many very difficult decisions were made. We are especially grateful for the considerate and respectful care that we received in our short stay at the Palliative Care Unit of Riverview Health Centre. We are very grateful to our friends and relatives for their support over the years and their extended assistance over this unexpected turn of events. The chauffeuring, shovelling, care packages and phone calls were greatly appreciated. A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Rd., with Pastor Glen Krentz presiding. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, friends may contribute to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch or Riverview Health Centre - Palliative Care.
