JOYCE DOREEN GILLON (nee RAINE) 1927 - 2000 Peacefully, on Friday, December 15, 2000, Joyce Doreen Gillon passed away in her sleep, in the comfort of her home, close to her beloved husband Glenn. Joyce was predeceased by her mother Nel Raine in 1983 and her father Alfred Raine in 1987. Joyce is survived by her husband Glenn of 49 years; sons, Brent James and Craig Allan; daughters-in-law, Monique and Kim; and her precious granddaughters, Jenna, Kelly, Sarah and Elyse. Joyce was deeply dedicated to her family and took great pride in their achievements. Born in Elmwood, September 19, 1927, Joyce attended Lord Selkirk School and continued her education at United College. She graduated from the University of Winnipeg in 1949. Joyce and Glenn resided in Norwood for 30 years where they raised their family. They retired in 1984 and spent their summers in Falcon Lake, Man. They wintered in Scottsdale, Arizona for 15 years. She spoke fondly and cherished the many friendships which were formed during those special retirement years. On behalf of my mother, I would like to thank you all for the special memories you brought to my mothers life. Joyce spent the better part of her life working hard to provide for those she loved, her family. She was employed by the University of Winnipeg Library, Standard Brands, Statistics Canada and Revenue Canada. She was actively involved in her community as a member of the Norwood UCW, West Hawk United Church, and the Winfal Seniors Club. Joyce touched many people during her life and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who was involved in Joyces life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Diabetes Association, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg MB R3C 0S6, or a charity of your choice. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. "A golden heart stopped Beating, Hard working hands laid to rest" Good Bye Mom.......
