GRACE ELLEN ACKERMAN "Her Journeys Just Begun" (E. Brenneman) Dont think of her as gone away her journeys just begun life holds so many facets this earth is only one Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years Think how she must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness could really pass away And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched... For nothing loved is ever lost... and she was loved so much. As she lived - so did she die By the Grace of God. With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Grace Ellen Ackerman (nee Pont) of Magnet, MB on Friday, December 15, 2000, surrounded by the love of her family at the Ste. Rose General Hospital, Ste Rose du Lac, MB after a brave, dignified battle with cancer. Mom was born in Winnipeg, MB on July 23, 1923, daughter of the late Harry and Rose Pont. Grace will live on in the hearts of her family and her many dear friends. She is survived by her husband, partner and best friend of 54 years, Sid Ackerman of Magnet and their three children, daughter Mabel and her husband Jim Bass of Meadow Portage, MB, son Robert and his wife Marnie (nee Pretula) of Winnipeg, MB, daughter Ruth and her husband Greg Zamrykut of Magnet, MB. Grandma leaves to mourn her seven grandchildren, Dale Bass and his wife Dawn of Elie, MB, Nadine Bass of Meadow Portage, MB and Ryan Bass of Grande Prairie, AB, Cheryl Ackerman and her fiance Mark Huckerby of Winnipeg, MB, Cara Bumstead and her husband Colin of Selkirk, MB and Jodee and Eric Zamrykut of Magnet, MB; Grannies three great-granddaughters, Breanna, Kennedy and Madison. Also surviving are one brother Clifford and his wife Audrey Pont of Beamsville, Ont.; three sisters, Hilda Borlang of Dryden, Ont., Viola Ferris and her husband Mervyn of Dauphin, MB and Ida DeWitt and her husband John of Dauphin, MB; her sisters-in-law, Ada Paradis of Vancouver, B.C., Edith and her husband Jim Murray of Magnet, MB and Dorothy and husband Stan Assailly of Winnipeg, MB. Her godmother Mary Louise Flanagan of Winnipeg, MB who was a very special part of Mothers life. There are many nieces, nephews, cousins and such a great multitude of good friends and lifelong neighbours. A prayer service will be held on Monday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. from the Ste Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church under the auspices of the United Church of Canada. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church under the auspices of the United Church of Canada. Rev. Ed Loucks will officiate with the interment following in the Magnet Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Dale Bass, Nadine Bass, Ryan Bass, Cheryl Ackerman, Cara Bumstead, Jodee Zamrykut and Eric Zamrykut.
