ALLEN LESLIE HALLETT On December 16, 2000, after a short battle with lung cancer, Allen passed away peacefully with his elder son, Darren, at his bedside. Left with many wonderful memories of a kind and gentle man are his beloved life partner Linda Turner; children, Darren, Greg and Tracy; their mother Karen Grande; mother Doris; sisters, Kathleen Stodgell, Dorothy Pratt and Elaine Burr (Fred) brother Barry (Linda). Allen is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Leslie and brothers-in-law, Al Pratt and Norman Stodgell. Born in Fisherton, Man., Allen was raised on a small farm where he lived until moving to Winnipeg at the age of 21. He worked briefly in northern Manitoba before returning to Winnipeg to accept a job with C.P. Express and Transport, where he worked for 34 years in several different positions, but mainly as a driver and in later years as dispatcher. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Allen was an active volunteer with the St. Andrews Community Club, coaching Tracys ball teams. He was presented with an Appreciation Award for an outstanding contribution of many dedicated hours as a leader and organizer toward the improvement of sports and recreation and the betterment of youth in the community. Since 1996, Allen had owned a cottage at Brereton Lake which provided him with countless hours of pleasure. We would like to thank Dr. S. Ahmed for her care and compassion and also the wonderful staff on H3 at Health Sciences Centre.
