ABRAHAM SHWEMER Abraham Shwemer passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Seven Oaks Hospital on Monday, December 18, 2000 at the age of 82. Abraham is survived by Fela, his loving wife of 55 years, his children Betty Weintraub and Cecile and David Devere; his grandchildren Elan Weintraub, Daniel Devere, Janelle Devere, his sister Fela Kokot, many nieces and nephews and special and dear friend Sharon Karvat. He was predeceased by his parents, his infant daughter, his brothers and numerous family members who perished during the Holocaust. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Rabbi Yaacov Benamou, the staff of 3U5, Seven Oaks Hospital, especially Colleen, Angie, Kim, Martin, Leeat, Karen, Sandy, Lorraine and Drs. Nyhof, L. Chung and Wong. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 19 at the Rosh Pina Synagogue, 123 Matheson Avenue E., followed by interment at the Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park, corner of Main Street and Armstrong Avenue. Shiva will be observed at 1 Sweetwood Bay, Garden City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Abrahams memory to the Rosh Pina Synagogue, 123 Matheson Avenue E., Winnipeg, MB, R2W OC3; The Herzlia Adas Yeshurun Congregation, 620 Brock Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3N 0Z4 or to a charity of your choice.
