Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERMAINE ODILE WALBERG (nee MAILLOT) Peacefully, on December 14, 2000 at Tache Centre, beloved wife of the late Walter Walberg. Germaine was born in St. Henri de Taillon, PQ on February 1, 1910, the daughter of Bernard Maillot and Eliza Declerq. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Walter, Ladysmith, BC; her daughter Brenda (Denis) Marion, Winnipeg; granddaughters, Lisa (Richard) Alarie, Calgary, AB, Monique Marion and Colleen (Darcy) Trudeau, Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Suzanne Marion, Janelle and Daniel Alarie and Hailey Trudeau. She will be dearly missed by her sisters, Lucy Hughes and Eliza Kingston, Mankota, SK; her brother Bernard (Theresa), Calgary, AB; sisters-in-law, Blanche Sketchey, Smithers, BC and Zella Wilson, Killarney, ON as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Ernest and Emile Maillot. Germaine came to Winnipeg in 1933 and was employed at the T. Eaton Co. and later owned her own beauty parlour. When Dad was called to war, she followed him to Halifax where he was stationed, returning to Winnipeg in 1945. She later worked as a seamstress at Kilroy Originals and went on to own a restaurant before starting in Real Estate in 1960. She had a hand in many ventures, never afraid to try something new. Mom was also wonderful at knitting and crocheting and tried her hand at various other crafts. Germaine loved to travel and she and Dad travelled across Canada, the United States, Mexico as well as Europe and Southeast Asia. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and loved playing cards. Mom was always there to give anyone a helping hand. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 22 at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc St., with Fr. Joseph Tran presiding. Special thanks to the staff of Tache Centre, 4ABC. Words cannot express how wonderful they all are. Mom was treated with much love, warmth and compassion by all of the staff.
