Date of Passing: Dec 21, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAMUEL HARVEY KAISER Peacefully, with his daughter Janis at his side, on Thursday, December 21, 2000, Samuel Harvey Kaiser of Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, formerly of Stonewall was reunited with his beloved wife Ivy for their first Christmas together since her passing December 22, 1987. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Janis; granddaughter Chelsey of Selkirk; his son Walter and wife Nancy, grandchildren, Jessica (Bruce), Vanessa, Jonathan, Kenneth, Katelyn and Andrew of Sherwood Park, AB and his sister Bertha Vern and brother-in-law Bill of London, ON, not to mention numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his only brother Bruce overseas in 1946 and his parents, Walter Bruce and Kathryn. He was born in Togo, SK, October 5, 1916. After serving overseas he returned to Winnipeg where he met the love of his life Ivy May Biglow and were married April 24, 1946. At that time he was working for C.N. Railways. While living in Winnipeg they completed their family when they adopted their "chosen children", Walter and Janis. Wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big city, they decided to move to Stonewall in the spring of 1959. Once relocated, he changed careers and began working at the Stony Mountain Penitentiary and continued until his early retirement due to his health. Dad became very active with the Legion and served as secretary for many years. He enjoyed meeting his buddies and telling stories. Over the years, their stories must have gotten stretched a bit, as their favourite table soon became decorated with a statue of a bull which still stands there today. Dads life was shattered with the loss of Mom and he missed her dearly. As his health started to deteriorate he moved to Middlechurch Home where he spent his remaining years. Until his passing, he never got over the loss of Mom and his one wish was to be reunited with her. Even though he leaves us with such sadness, it helps our loss in knowing in our hearts that they are finally together. The family wishes to send a very special thanks to all the staff at Middlechurch Home for all the love and support they gave to Dad over the years. We always knew Dad was in good hands and in our minds were always at ease when we couldnt be there. Time after time they repeatedly showed us their huge hearts and we can never thank them enough. Following Dads wishes cremation will take place and a funeral service will be held Thursday, December 28 at 3:00 p.m. at the Stonewall United Church. Interment will follow immediately after at the Stonewall Cemetery. Afterwards friends and relatives are asked to join us for a lunch at the Stonewall Legion. In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made to the Middlechurch Home or to a charity of your choice. Dad youre finally with Mom We will always be thankful for having you both as our parents. We love you and will always miss you. God bless you both. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of arrangements.
