JOHN CHARLES MEYER November 13, 1915- December 22, 2000 Peacefully after a brief illness, Dad, Grandpa passed away on Friday, December 22, 2000, at the Concordia Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret; his parents Alice and Anton and his sisters, Doris, Mabel and Bertha. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Rick and Barry (Joyce) daughters, Donna (Wayne) and Tracy (Kevin) and four grandchildren, Kelli-Anne, Steven, Sheila and Diana. In his younger years he worked in the mines at Gods Lake. He served overseas from 1942 to 1946 and was a member of the Elmwood #9 Legion. Dad had worked for Canada Malting, retiring in 1980 and since has spent his summers vegetable gardening and visiting the family cottages at Grand Marais and Great Falls. Dad had a special place in his heart for his favourite friends, Bo, Sandie and Emma. His daily visits with cookies will be deeply missed. Thank you Dad. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Welch and the nursing staff of the Concordia Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 27, at 2:30 p.m. in the Grey Street United Church, 651 Sandhurst Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, Man., R2L 1X3, or a charity of your choice.
