ANNE LECHOW After a lengthy illness and at 77 years of age, Annie left our world on November 11, 2000, at her home in Upland, California. Annie was predeceased by her parents William and Helen Lechow, her sister Lena Westman and brother Joe Lechow. Annie is survived by her sisters Mary Nelson and husband Carl of Alta Loma, California, and Olga (Toots) Diakun and husband Mike of London, Ontario and her brother John Lechow and wife Doreen of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews. As a child, Annie showed an ongoing vitality and self strength that never left her throughout life. At age 18 she ventured from home in Winnipeg to see the world and her inquisitiveness took her first to Toronto and then to Los Angeles where she designed and produced exclusive clothing. Annies eye for style, artistry and travel, took her through Europe, Asia and North America. Annie collected and appreciated art and nature, practiced Tai-Chi, loved thoroughbred racing and walked miles daily. In her 50s, Annie made a career change, becoming a police officer with the city of Los Angeles, retiring to do volunteer work for the American Cancer Society and most recently she was a Travellers Aid at Californias Ontario Airport. Annies practical approach to life left her with no single regret at how she had lived life to the fullest, in her own way, enjoying every day and every moment and looking half her age. Annie left our world as though she was going on another trip and adventure.........well prepared! Cremation has taken place. On a fine sunny, summer day, a private family service and interment will be held in Manitoba.
