Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY EWART STILLWELL July 8, 1909 - December 24, 2000 With great sorrow we announce the passing of Stan Stillwell. He was predeceased by his loving wife Violet Pearl, December 17, 1988. Also his parents Henry and Sara-Jane; brothers Auther and Harry Stillwell. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family. Loving and caring daughter Norma Jean, son Barry Stillwell (Betty) his stepsons James Hart (Angie), Edward Hart (Louise), Robert Hart (Estelle) grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and sister-in-law Eileen Stillwell. Stan came to Canada in 1911 at the age of 2 from Hastings, England. He received his education in Headingly and Winnipeg schools and remained in Winnipeg where he made his home and career in the family upholstery business. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1940 and was posted to the Eastern Air Command where he served at many stations in Canada and Iceland. After returning home he was a founding member of Unit #283 of the Army and Navy Air Force Veterans in Canada which over the years he held many important positions - including Dominion President in 1980. In 1978 he received the Queens Silver Jubilee Medal. In 1986, the Province of Manitoba presented him, The Order of Buffalo Hunt in recognition of outstanding contributions to the welfare of war veterans, their spouses, and dependants. Stan was a member of Unit #283 for 54 years and received a life membership in 1959. He will be greatly missed by all his fellow comrades. The family would like to thank Reg Baldwin, a longtime dear friend of Stans for his continued support and friendship. Our family also wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of 7T and 3 East for their exceptional care and compassion for our father during his stay at Deer Lodge Centre. Viewing will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2000, at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue, Aubrey Street entrance. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday at St. James Anglican Church, 195 Collegiate Street with burial at Brookside Cemetery. Honourary Pallbearer will be Reg Baldwin. Active Pallbearers will be Norm Hart, Art Hart, Lee Stillwell, Chris Stillwell, Devin Hart and Bill Holowec.
