RONALD G. HODGES September 17, 1931 December 26, 2000 Peacefully, at St. Boniface Hospital after enjoying a family dinner on Christmas Day in the company of those he loved. Survived by his children, daughter Debbie; son Ken and his wife Norine (nee Vinthers) and their children, Rons beloved grandchildren, their son Braden, and daughter Kendra. Ron is also survived by his sister Jackie (Ken) Brixey in California, by sister Sally (Barry) Phillips here in Winnipeg, John (Marianne) Hodges from Balfour, B.C., and by mother Betty Hodges, also a resident in Winnipeg. A graduate of the football program at Daniel Mac, the Maroons "Iron Man" quarterback recently was involved in honouring of the memories of his coach Andy Currie and his successor John Potter. Rons athletic activities continued after school and included skiing, speedskating and swimming. Hobbies and interests as a child included building model airplanes and painting. His fascination and keen interests in cars filled his life with many hours of enjoyment. In the past few years Ron had great interest in his computer, surfing the net and communicating with old and new friends around the world. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated by one of the following, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Manitoba Down Syndrome Society. Cremation was Rons preference, and that has occurred. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 29 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance.
