Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER P. KRAHN September 7, 1919 - December 24, 2000 It is with deep sorrow that the family of Peter P. Krahn announce the sudden passing of their husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, on December 24, 2000 at the Morden Hospital, age 81 years, of Winkler, Man. He is survived by his wife Anne, of 59 years; he leaves to cherish his memory one son Ron and wife Lynda Krahn of Stephenfield; two daughters, Linda and husband Carl Weshnoweski of Winnipeg Beach, Debbie Krahn of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren, Brenda (Francis), Robert (Anne), Randy, Dennis, Heather (Eric), Eleanore, Erica, Nicholas and Jodie; and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Joel. He also leaves to mourn his loss three brothers, Bill (Iris), Henry (Frances), John (Eileen) three sisters, Margaret (Isaac) Hildebrand, Kaye Letkeman, Sue Mosionier (Danny). He was predeceased by two children in infancy, Evelyn Joyce and Robert Wayne; by his parents Margaret (nee Peters) and Peter C. Krahn, as well as two brothers-in-law, Frank Letkeman and John Mosionier. Peter was born in Rosenort (now Rosetown), the eldest of seven children. At age 13 his family moved to Waldheim where they farmed. Here he met Anne Wiebe who was to become his wife in 1941. After a few more years of farming at Waldheim they moved to the family farm west of Winkler where they raised their three children and resided until 1969. At this time Peter was invited to join the Winkler Police Department. With his change in occupation came a move into town where he currently resided until the time of his death. Peter served the Police Department with pride for four years after which time he became chief of security at Triple E Manufacturing. Here he remained employed until his retirement in 1984. Throughout life Dad had numerous passions, however only one true love - his family. He expressed this love by sharing his appreciation for the great outdoors with his children and grandchildren, teaching them the art of fishing and hunting, and sharing his favourite fishing spots along the Pembina River and Rock Lake with them. Regretfully, his great-grandchildren will not benefit from such quality time, yet Grandpas colourful stories will keep his memory alive for years to come. Grandchildren living further away will remember Grandma and Grandpas house as a favourite spot for summer holidays. Besides Dads passion for fishing and hunting, he had a gift for seeing the humourous side of life. This was evident in the stories he told from his childhood and his lifes experiences. Dad will also be remembered fondly by many people in the community. Since his retirement, his daily ritual was getting the paper and going to the coffee shop where he would swap stories with friends and reminisce about days gone by and friends who were no longer with them. Dads life was a full and rewarding life - not so much with things of monetary value, but with the tings that really mattered - family. Dad did not profess to be a deeply religious person, however, his early Christian upbringing often became evident in the way he influenced his children and grandchildren to live their lives. Dad will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Viewing will be held Thursday, December 28 at Wiebe Funeral Home Winkler (121 8th St.), 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the chapel prior to the service. Funeral Service for family and close friends will be held on Friday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden (1050 Thornhill St.) with Rev. Ben. D. Wiebe officiating. Interment will follow in the Waldheim Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8. Mrs. Krahn and family would like to thank Winkler Ambulance for their prompt response and Morden Hospital Emergency ward staff for their fine care at Mr. Krahns time of need. My grandfather was and will always be the best man I know. He and I had a very close relationship, and I hope he knows that I cared for Grandma with all of my heart after he left. His legacy is a great one, full of love and humour! His stories and lessons have shaped me into the person I am today, and I can only hope he is, somehow, a witness to that. I love you, Grandpa, with my whole heart... I wish I had just one more moment with you. - Posted by: Jodie Eckert (Granddaughter ) on: Dec 22, 2015
