Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN AMEDEE COULOMBE 1925 - 2000 After a courageous battle with cancer, John left us peacefully with his son Chris by his side at the Pine Falls General Hospital on Sunday, December 24, 2000. Surviving are his wife Jean (King) of 42 years; his daughter Corinne (Russ) Gawriluk; his son Chris; his sister Annette (Rene) Papineau, his sister Rita (Frank) Kolesnik; his brother Alfred (Dolores) Coulombe and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his infant (stillborn) son Christopher; his parents Ulric and Yvonne; his sisters, Simone (Albert) Menard, Juliette (Clifford) Patterson, Lucille (Ray) Lee, Jeannine (Berkley) Crawford, Edmee (Ed) Mroz; his brothers, Freddie (7 years old), Edmond, Lionel (Beatrice) Coulombe. John was born on September 3, 1925, in Fannystelle, Man., moving to St. Georges in 1942, shortly thereafter making his home in Powerview. John serviced in the Air Force in Canada during the Second World War. On his discharge, he worked at Abitibi Paper Mill, now known as Pine Falls Paper Co. as Boss Machine Tender, where he retired after 45 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his longtime friends Chris Laporte and Louis Patterson. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved sitting in the sun. He also jumped at every chance to go to Papineaus cottage at Happy Lake. Viewing will be held on Friday, December 29, at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Georges Roman Catholic Church, St. Georges, Man., with funeral liturgy following at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Rejean Belanger presiding. Cremation will follow with interment to take place at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Laporte and Paul Desilets. Pallbearers will be Ed and Ron Papineau, Bill and Jack King, Georges Laurin and Roger Goodman. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the care given him at the Grace General Hospital and the Pine Falls Hospital during these difficult last months and to the staff for their care and support during his stay in the hospital.
