ELSIE SMITH (nee WYNNE) Peacefully, on December 26, 2000, Elsie Smith passed away. Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Ernie in 1991 and brother Idris. She leaves to mourn her daughter Margaret Roberts of Winnipeg; son Robert, daughter-in-law Karen and grandchildren, Christopher and Bobbi of Sherwood Park, Alta.; son Chris, daughter-in-law Bonnie and grandchildren, Brent and Caitlin of Winnipeg; and brother Robert and sister-in-law Anne of Vancouver, B.C. She was born in Wales in 1906 and immigrated to Canada as a young girl with her family. She grew up in Foxwarren, Man., and she and Ernie raised their family in Portage la Prairie and Winnipeg. She worked for Manitoba Telephone System in rural Manitoba and for Personal Care Homes in Winnipeg. Elsie remained active throughout her life, especially in volunteer work with Manitoba Telecom Pioneers. She will be missed by her many friends. Services will be held for Elsie on December 30, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3B 2H8.
