RONALD JOHN (JACK) ROBIE It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jack on Sunday, December 24, 2000, at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 75 years. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Nellie and William; his sisters Beatrice, Eva, Myrtle, Marnie; his brothers Stan, George and Albert. He is survived by his many nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. Jack served his country in the Second World War and upon his return began his career as a brakeman with the C.N. Railway, until his retirement at age 60. Jack was a devoted and proud member of the #1 Legion for over 50 years. Belonging to the Legion was a very important part of Jacks life, where he served on a variety of committees, including the Entertainment and Bingo committees. At the time of his passing, Jack was Honorary President of the #1 Branch Legion. He had recently been honoured with one of the Legions highest awards, the Meritorious Service Medal. Jacks greatest joy was his cottage at Matlock where he eagerly looked forward to spending his summers. He recently had a new cottage built on the property which he was so proud of but sadly did not have the opportunity to enjoy for very long. A very special thank you is sincerely extended to Bonnie Barbour (Jacks "other niece" for all her kindness and overwhelming generosity that she gave to Jack throughout the years. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 30 at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
